Hints and Tips when choosing a projector:

• Consider the layout of the room – the position of the presenter and the audience. A distance of 1.5 to 2 times the width of the screen will reduce pixilation and make viewing comfortable. A short throw projector will enable glare free display of the presentation materials without casting shadows. Projecting onto a screen rather than a wall will enhance the quality of the projection.
• Consider the light conditions and ability to control the light. Most current projectors deliver 3000 lumens or above, which is more than adequate for most businesses and schools unless there is a lot of ambient light, or you can’t darken the environment or you have a large audience. In these circumstances a projector with 4000-6000 lumens is better. Some modern projectors have an intelligent brightness control which automatically adapts the projector brightness to different light conditions.
• Consider how you will use the projector. Will it be installed in one room or will it be regularly moved or used on the move? If you need to transport the projector a lighter portable model may be more suitable. If the projector will stay in one place then a desktop model will provide more features and offer better value.
• Consider if you need to project sound or multimedia with sound. You can connect your PC or video source to an amplifier or use the internal speaker in the projector. Most projectors include a 6 watt mono speaker as standard, which is sufficient for a room sitting 20 or 30 or if the audio is speech only. If you need more impact or seat a larger audience then choose a projector with at least a 10 watt speaker.
• How often will you use the projector? Projectors will state the number of lamp hours they deliver per lamp. A standard lamp lasts around 2000 hours of projecting. The Casio LED lampless projectors have a lifetime of up to 20,000 hours.
• How many users will use the projector at once? If you regularly use the projector for presentations or meetings where more than one user will use the projector in the meeting consider a projector that has a USB port or WLAN. WLAN allows several computers to be simultaneously connected, whilst the USB port allows users to plug in a flash drive once their presentation has been converted using the software supplied with the projector, rather than plugging in a laptop. Useful when on the move.
• The introduction of LED lampless projectors means that you can now choose a projector that not only saves on the cost of expensive replacement bulbs but also the inconvenience of replacing bulbs in difficult to reach ceiling mounted projectors. When taking into account the total cost of ownership, some clients have found it cheaper to replace an older projector that needs new lamps several times a year with a new LED projector such as those we offer from Casio.
